About Me

My name is Boyang Zhang. And yes, people usually know me by Bobby. In Chinese, my last name goes first:

张 博 洋

I am a rising second-year graduate student studying chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania. Though it sounds sciencey, I have an equally strong passion for art and that’s why I earned a minor in communication design. Outside the lab, you might know me as a (self-proclaimed) photographer, Gemini, roller coaster enthusiast, and a proud Chongqinger.

Last May, I graduated from the University of Southern California (fight on!) with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. At USC, I was in the Fieser Lab to work on a startup project that studies transition metal-catalyzed decomposition of carbonyls in polymers. I was also in Professor Travis Williams’s group with primary interests in recycling carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites. In the past, I worked on a research paper on the Roman cursed tablet, founded a high school design club named L’ampoule, and won a poké bowl spicy challenge.
